• Wrote stories, novels, poems, news articles, and academic papers
• Responsible for entertaining family and friends with knowledge of spelling and grammar

• Accomplished at spending entire afternoons curled in a corner with a notebook and pen, creating worlds within worlds
• Eventually became editor-in-chief for my college's student newspaper

1995-2000

Frustrated Writer

• Studied Greek and Latin classics in the graduate program at University of Iowa
• Taught high school and college courses
• Waited tables

• Worked a series of unsatisfying jobs before realizing what I really wanted was to do what I'd always done: Write

• Work closely with business owners, marketing consultants, publications, and individuals to create focused, effective content that supports their goals.
• Research and maintain current knowledge of industry events and trends.
• Conduct business writing seminars and training sessions for engineers, attorneys, and other professionals.
• Manage all aspects of promotion, marketing, and selling my own services.
• Produce content for sales collateral, brochures, websites, press releases, case studies, and many other forms of corporate communication.
• Write articles and news stories for a variety of publications.
• Maintain a blog here and at our sister site, Basement Tycoon.
• Create winning resumes for executives.
• Write poems and stories for myself, friends, and customers who want a unique artistic gift for someone special, or just to commemorate an important event.
